A tray is a set you open in front of people. It is meant to be fanned out on a table so that guests pick their own shade on the way past, and everything about these sets is built around that moment: assorted colours so there is a real choice, cells already fitted so nothing has to be assembled, and individual buttons so the first thing a guest does is change their own band rather than ask how it works.
Our eight-band tray carries seven solid shades and one white band on a multicolour effect, which suits a table where everybody should look different. The twelve-band tray arrives in pairs instead — two each of five shades plus two black RGB bands — which suits a group that is going to split into teams before the evening is out. Neither is the upgrade of the other; they answer different questions.
Every mixed set we make carries at least one band that refuses to hold a single colour. The black RGB bands cycle instead, and in practice they become the markers of the evening: whoever wears one is the captain, the host or the adult to find. It is a small piece of design that children work out on their own within about a minute of the box being opened.
On a steady setting a band runs roughly fifteen to twenty hours, which is far longer than any party we have ever been to. Flash modes stretch that further because the light is off for part of every cycle. What this means in practice is that a tray opened on Saturday is still working on Sunday, and that the spare cell in the box is for the next event rather than for a rescue halfway through this one.
Every band in both trays measures the same: about 10.3 inches unfolded, 8.7 inches once closed, an inch wide, with a lit section of around 5.7 inches. That fits older children, teenagers and adults comfortably. It is not a toddler size, and we would rather say so on the shelf page than have a parent discover it with the wrapping paper already off.
Every bracelet here is its own controller: one button, no remote, no app and no sound trigger. Please check each battery door is fully shut before an event and keep spare cells away from small children, who should be supervised while wearing a band. The security of a lit wrist is worth a great deal in a dark room, but it is not a substitute for reflective clothing beside a road.
A small LED strip runs inside a woven band, powered by two coin cells in a sealed compartment at the clasp. One button on the outside cycles the light through steady, fast flash and slow flash. There is no app, no remote and no charging.
Across our trays the shades that move first are pink, blue and the white multicolour band. Green and red peak around the holidays, and orange sells almost entirely in October. The black RGB bands are always chosen before the solid colours when children pick for themselves.
Yes. The band closes with a touch fastening rather than a seal, and the battery compartment opens, so a band can be switched off and put away. Every set ships with one spare cell per band for the second outing.
It depends on the tray. Our eight-band and twelve-band sets work out to a couple of dollars per wrist, which is roughly what a printed paper favour costs and considerably less than anything else at the table that still works a week later.
