FANL Glow Bracelet Sizing: Measuring Before You Order

Every band we make is the same size. Here are the four numbers that matter and the thirty-second check we would rather you ran before ordering.

The four numbers

A FANL band measures about 10.3 inches when it is laid out flat, closes to roughly 8.7 inches, runs an inch wide and carries a lit section of around 5.7 inches. Those numbers are identical across every set on this site, from the single-colour eights to the twenty-four band crowd pack. There is no small and no large, which makes ordering simple and makes checking before you order worth the half minute.

The thirty-second check

Take a strip of paper, wrap it around the wrist that will wear the band, mark where it overlaps and lay it against a ruler. Anything comfortably under 8.7 inches will fasten. A wrist close to that number will fasten but sit tight, and a wrist well under it will fasten with the band sitting loose enough to rotate, which is fine for an adult and slightly annoying for a child who keeps adjusting it.

Who the bands fit

Older children, teenagers and adults. In practice that means roughly eight years old and upward for a band that stays where it is put. On a toddler the band will close, but it will slide and it will be reachable, and we would rather say so plainly than sell a set into a birthday party full of three-year-olds. Children of any age should be supervised while they wear one.

Wearing a band somewhere other than a wrist

The same 8.7 inches that fastens on an adult wrist also goes around an ankle, a bag strap, a bike frame, a pushchair handle or a dog harness. We see all of those regularly and none of them are misuse. The only place we would avoid is anywhere the band can be pulled tight against skin and left there, because the battery housing at the clasp is rigid.

Why there is only one size

Making two sizes would mean two sets of tooling, two sets of inventory and a decision at the checkout that most buyers cannot answer for a party of guests they have not measured. One size that fits the eight-and-up range covers nearly everybody who buys these, and the touch fastening absorbs most of the variation that is left.

Before the set goes on

Whatever size the wrist is, check the battery compartment is fully closed before the band is worn. A door that has not clicked shut is the most common reason a band looks dead, and it is also the only part of the product a child could open. Press each one with a thumbnail until it stops moving.

  • Band size — 10.3 inches unfolded, 8.7 inches closed, 1 inch wide
  • Lit section — about 5.7 inches
  • Cells — two CR2016 fitted, one CR2032 spare per band
  • Runtime — roughly 15 to 20 hours on a steady setting

Please remember that each bracelet is its own controller — no remote, no sound trigger — and that the security a lit wrist gives you at an event is about being countable, not about being protected on a road. Keep spare cells out of reach and supervise children while they wear a band.

Questions about light up bracelets

What does a light blue bracelet mean?

On our bands, nothing by itself. Colour on a FANL set means whatever the host assigns it to on the night — a table, a team or a role. We do not build meaning into shades.

How much is a bracelet?

Per wrist, our sets work out to roughly a couple of dollars. The larger the pack, the lower that figure goes, which is why the twenty-four band set is the one we point large events toward.

Can you reuse a light up bracelet?

Yes, and sizing is part of why. The touch fastening does not wear out the way a clip does, so a band that fitted last October still fastens the same way this one.
